Beauty School

Want to learn more about skincare, haircare and other topics within the beauty, laser and medical aesthetic industry? The Aesthetics 101 is a series of consumer guides on beauty and medical aesthetic related treatments and services. You choose how much you want to learn, when and how (and all for free)!

Why a guide on aesthetic medicine? During the last decade we have seen a tremendous increase in the number of medical aesthetic treatment methods and technologies and a parallel increase in our knowledge about them.

We live in an era where we're surrounded by lots of information on beauty and skincare. The challenge is, it's very difficult to work out what's right and what's not. There's a lot of people who claim to know a lot about beauty and wellness, but actually are they really telling you the truth? Aesthetic related treatments and products are often accompanied by marketing myths rather than good scientific data; often indistinguishable by a layperson.

This mini course series is been designed to encourage people to think critically about the information that you get. We cover the practical essentials of aesthetic services provided by a typical aesthetic clinic . We would like to acknowledge that medical aesthetic science is indeed a complex and dynamic space. However, we need to start somewhere. This mini-course has been developed as a starting point for people who want to know more about beauty and skincare.

The main goal for this series is to guide you as a consumer in making the right and safe informed decision in terms of choosing the right treatment method as well as the right practitioner. However, this guide is also suitable for nurses, paramedical and certified aestheticians and beauticians who are keen to develop or advance their knowledge in aesthetic medicine in order to address the knowledge gap between medical doctors trained in medical aesthetics and their non-medical doctor colleagues i.e. beauticians, laser therapists etc.

This post contains information and links to course modules and resources in various medical aesthetic related categories.

Although information related to medical aesthetics is all over the internet, some are too technical for a lay person, some are too shallow without any substance and some are disorganised, confusing you further. We have tried to organize them in a structured manner so that you could digest the information in an orderly manner.

As aesthetic medicine is a dynamic and ever changing field, this 11 part series (at the moment) is a work-in-progress list as new categories and modules might be added from time to time.
The contents in this program are kept to a minimum in order to comply with the 'keep it simple and short' concept. However, we need to strike a balance between keeping it short and simple but broad enough to cover the basic but important practical essentials.

Go ahead. Do proceed and enjoy your new e-medical aesthetic and beauty insight!
